Great Michael, good to know more about your background, I look forward to reading your completed work on fear down the road. Indeed, a very basic "step" we require as humanity is to reframe "fear" as more positive, transformative, etc. Which, as I would translate in my own work which focuses on fear-knowledge or in a Foucauldian sense: the unit of analysis is power/knowledge/fear rather than "fear" itself that ought to be analyzed.
It is a slippery slope of when humans and their institutions "use" or "misuse" fear-knowledge that interests me the most and in what framing or meta-context can we best articulate a systematic critique and positive vision of fear, as I suspect your work is heading as well. I appreciate you'll bring a philosophical/theological perspective, and a view from Nigeria (and Africa) to the conversations.
Thanks so much Mr. Fisher! I am Michael Bassey Eneyo from Cross River State in the Southern part of Nigeria. I have two degrees in philosophy and a certificate in Religious studies. I am working with the Federal Government of Nigeria. I have authored two books, Philosophy of Unity and Morality, Judging Beyond the Limit of Man, which are already in the press for printing.
At present, I am writing a book on fear with the title: Philosophy of Fear: A Move to Overcoming Negative Fear, as part of my contributions on how fear can be used to human advantage.
It's on the premise of creating this awareness that I consider it worthwhile to join FM ning.
Hi Michael Eneyo,
Glad you could join the conversation and I look forward to what you are doing and why you have been attracted to the FM ning. I understand you are writing a book on fear and philosophy of fearism.
