I've finished this art piece, and wanted to work with the title I gave it "Anthropocene" and turn it into a poster as you see it now. Why? I have long been interested in a spectrum contextualization of how we understand fear over macro-periods or ages/eras, e.g., ancient fear, premodern fear, modern fear, postmodern fear... and, now what some are calling a new era, the "Anthropocene" in terms of geological time, and specifically this period since the Industrial Revolution (at least) when humankind has had enormous negative effects on Earth and the sustainability of Life. Global warming and mass species extinctions are part of the definition of the Anthropocene. What has this new context brought to our notion of Fear?
