I found this on my feed today, and it made me think of the language that critical pedagogues, like Henry Giroux, have used and still use in their discourses and critiques of culture and education. I am not against these types of words here per se in his article, but I also think they are distractions for the most part because he doesn't use the word "fear" which is the basis of it all. Giroux, back in 2003 wrote a book on "culture of fear" and education and the problems of youth in American culture especially, and it is sad to watch how he has walked away from using that language since. It's not a good sign for the future of effectiveness of critical pedagogy, if you ask me.
