My appreciation to Durwin Foster, an FM ning member, and long-time colleague for putting together the final graphic which he and I collaborated on. He is an integral counselor and integral psychotherapist, and we enjoy discussions that apply Wilberian integral principles into real-world philosophical and therapeutic applications.
In this diagram, we are using the 'lemniscate' structure or symbol of eternity, as an open-system of flow, where an individual or group of any size and depth, can remember to use this model to incorporate a healthy (integral) relationship of possibilities on the template of the furthers real(ism) to the furthest ideal(ism) and this flow of integrating the binary extremes is better than partitioning them off as "separate" and one has to chose to be more real or more ideal in their philosophy and ways of being.
This integral design structure of the lemniscate has long served the role of integration. Note also that if one travels this path of flow ongoing, each time around the completion of the lemniscate there is an expansion of the size the movement so as it 'repeats' the pattern of the flow but is not on the same level or exact path as before--this gives a spiral dynamic into this design. I have argued for a long time this the lemniscate is one of the most basic structures also of the "holon" that Ken Wilber has presented in his works.
