The polymath individual and critical thinker, David Berlinski, is out there pushing back at the people writing and teaching about the near transition and future where 'Man becomes like God' --or, we actualize the 'better angels of our nature.' Not that Berlinksi is overly-dark, he can appreciate the glories of sciences, mathematics and technologies and their "gifts" but he also says, more or less, 'Don't forget our human nature is real' and, his quote above says it. It reminds me of Albert Camus' great quote on the "Twentieth century, is the century of fear".
I'm reading Berlinski's (2019), "Human Nature" book, and one endorsement reads: "The man is fearless in pursuing lines of reasoning that are considered taboo by current standards." - Sergiu Klainerman, Eugene Higgins Professor of Mathematics, Princeton University
