Fearologist, Dr. R. Michael Fisher, is at it again, in his weird lectures... ha ha.
Check this one on why it can be useful to be 'stranger' than you are...and, how that might relate to fear.

I just got invited to an amazing course: "We Will Dance With Mountains" (2023), based on Dr. Bayo Akomolafe's philosophy and spiritual activism. Akomolafe subtitles this course "Vunja" which is a Swahili word that marks the site of strange ruptures but then invites celebration and dance with/in those cracks" (a kind of "breakdance" of a whole other kind, he writes on his website). We certainly need in our activism, politics, education and general cultural malaise--a few more cracks, but I am not referring to those that are so destructive and unfettered but one's that are more conscious or at least they are sensitively picked-up as essential ruptures, breakages, where "the veneer of confidence" (certainty and bravado and chauvinism) is whacked hard!...Vunja is a political and spiritual technology for gathering together, for assembling things in a queer way, for performing research," writes Akomolafe on his website. Yes, bring it on. I am ready for such an adventure of learning from Akomolafe et al. re: this course/event. Wow!
