Where Politics and Trauma Meet

Thanks to the life-long work of Gabor Mate, MD, and his work with trauma and addictions...

he is getting now known outside of the health and medical community and into

the larger sphere of "Politics" ... especially, with this latest interview.

I see the same imperative as Mate, to acknowledge trauma --as fear-based patterning and

its immense destructive potencies in all aspects of society, when not managed or transformed

well because of ignore-ance and/or arrogance. "Fear" (and 'fear') are at the basis of all trauma

dynamics because they are not separate completely from cultural and political contexts.

Mate calls this context "toxic culture" as have many others before him, but it is ultimately a

"culture of fear." What are we going to do with that?

We are all on the same 'ship.' This kind of debunking that there is some "healthy" norm of which

people are supposed to be, and maintain, is now under deconstruction. A new myth is just

around the corner and Mate is one of its creators.
