I agree with Michael Fisher and Jha in their observation that the thinkers of olden days didn’t seem to utilise sufficiently fear element to navigate through the issues of life and living in the society even though they paid heed to fearlessness in terms of abhaya or abhaya dana.
Fisherian fearology and Subbaiyan fearism filled that void by emphasising the utility aspect of fear in a logical manner.
Sufi philosophers (portmanteau for Subba and Fisher) have time and again reminded the world of Camusean assertion on how modern times turned as the century of fear. Though Fisher talked about toxic and benign fears umpteen times so far, the world is still more obsessed with toxic fear. Corona created toxic fear but at the same time the front-liners who are handling the pandemic have been relentlessly and fearlessly serving the society and simultaneously they are cautious because of benign fear so as not to get infected.
