  • The Fearology institute is a well thought out forum for studing the effect of fear on various human life experiences, perspectives, skills, and strenghts. A good fear education creates opportunities to 'get out of one's comfort zone, feel more, learn more, and stretch our minds a little bit more'. But this simple suggestion is complicated by psychological, social , and cultural factors that interplay to influence individual human behaviors. Fear studies are necessary for the dissection of these complexities to help  eradicate the barriers of homophily which will result to building stronger unity, leadership skills, and competence in various sectors and aspects of societies (Education, Government, Healthcare, Law enforcement, corporate, hospitality etc. Thank you Dr Fisher for this forum.

    • I appreciate you've taken time to understand this intersectionality of the Fear Problem, which is my way of ensuring we don't overly simplify and treat symptoms (e.g., psychological fears) and mis-understand and mis-guide ourselves and those we teach and influence, when it comes to this topic. Good on you Nonye for your work too and may we grow together on this life-long learning venture.

Oh, "homophily" what exactly do you mean by that term, I have not seen it, and I wondered if you made a typo (?) "eradicate the barriers to (not of) homophily" (?)

    • Thanks so much Dr Fisher. A term in sociological studies, Homophily refers to the tendency for people to have (non-negative) ties with people who are similar to themselves in socially significant ways. And Value  homophily is the tendency to associate with individuals who share similar beliefs and values.
A danger of homophily is the unreal fears that could be created when individuals are expected to step out of their comfort zones and interact with others of different values, cultures, backgrounds, socioeconomic status etc

  • I just sent this letter to the Canadian Prime Minister:

    Hello Hon. Justin Trudeau,

I am a fellow Canadian educator, like yourself, who has picked out the most "wicked problem" I could find in the contemporary world, and it turned to to be the Fear Problem. After researching and teaching on this topic for 30 years now, I have finally created The Fearology Institute (based on a "gift economy" model), as something I can do to help train people to be fearologists in the academic, professional and activism spheres of learning and teaching and service to Canadian society and beyond.

I've attached The Fearology Institute brochure for you viewing... and, may we or others in your cabinet find a way to talk further how to promote the work of solving this "wicked problem" that spreads like a virus...

    All the best,
    R. Michael Fisher, Ph.D.
    Director, The Fearology Institute
    • That is a great move... Kudos to you our hero

      All the best
